“Thank you, Cate,” Helena replied.

“Oh, we have some Goa’uld personal shield bracers for the SGC to study,” said Colonel Larkin.


“Standby. She nodded and the Gate Technician left the room. When she was in position, she signaled to Cate. “Alright. Cardiff is in position. Go ahead and send your item.” Larkin placed the bracers though the Stargate. Within seconds Cate acknowledged that Cardiff had the bracers. “Items received. We’ll take a look at them. Oh, and by the way, word around the commissary is Sam is going to promote SG-24 to the elites.”

“But aren't SG's 1 through 9 considered the elite teams?” Larkin asked.

“I've heard she's planning to make an exception. But she didn't hear it from me,” Cate replied. 

Larkin laughed. “Mum’s the word,” he said. 
“And so the word is mum,” Cate replied. 

“I think that does it, Cate. We have the new Milky Way Gate shield to install on our DHD. We'll contact you when we're ready to test it,” Larkin said.


Cate's furrowed her brow. “Isn't that the shield Doctor Zelenka has been tinkering with?”

“The same,” Larkin replied. “I remember when he first came up with the idea when I was on Atlantis.”

“Radak deserves it, especially with all the stuff Rodney gets credited for,” Cate said as she let out a laugh. “I'll let you get to it. SGC out.” 

And with that the wormhole dissipated and the Stargate shut down. Fairbairn got to work. She pulled out a device out of her rucksack and opened a panel on the base of the DHD. Following a schematic, she connected the Gate Shield to what Fairbairn considered the motherboard. After what seemed like an eternity Fairbairn announced that she was ready.


“Anything else?” Cate asked. 

“Helena was able to scan Maerwynn, the little girl whom she was communicating with and her family. Maerwynn is the only one in her family who has the ATA gene. Her parents do not have it,” Larkin said. “We also have reason to believe that there is more Ancient tech on the planet as Simon and Mary have in their possession a Long Range Communication device. They thought it was a GDO.”

“That's totally odd. And a bit disturbing. I'll make sure Sam passes that along with Daniel and Caroline,” said Cate. “In fact I'll brief Sam as soon as she gets in this morning.”

“Thank you, Cate,” said Larkin.
