Actually I waited, waited with quite some attention on the topic during the 2015 to let's say 2022 on mentions of WWI. Given the beyond-any-optionality-to-describe pains, losses and trauma this "war" created, nothing. People were not interested in their pains, not their trauma, not their death and not in that what followed. So, in my view, they died for nothing. Whole generations of young men just and only fodder for grenades.
One may also place this in WWII, because no one anymore knows the difference. OK.
If they take this opportunity to remember, I am very happy.
Two generations of young men died in WWI, or came back as aliens, traumatized in every possible way. THIS led to 1933 and the rise of Hitler. Not the character of the Germans as people.
Now we see this rise of right-wing again like a pest. There is nothing against right-wing as such. But everything against the notion that imperialism, dictatorship and all that comes with dictatorship is ok. It is not.
Thanks for sharing!
