The Sleeper Beneath

“The Sleeper Beneath” explores the raw, tactile intersection of cosmic horror and ancient craftsmanship. Presented as a museum gallery exhibition, this high-contrast bas-relief slab is forged from weathered, oxidized verdigris copper and inlaid with deep, abyssal-blue lapis lazuli stone. The sculpture depicts the dread deity Cthulhu rising over the cyclopean, non-Euclidean spires of the sunken city of R'lyeh, surrounded by swirling celestial star-charts and forgotten oceanic runes. Illuminated by a sharp, low-angle gallery spotlight, the metallic ridges and gnarled tentacles cast long, dramatic shadows—creating an ominous, tangible artifact that feels as though it was dragged straight from the depths of Lovecraft’s dark mythology.
