In 1980, a 13-episode cartoon "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel" was released on Soviet screens, work on which went on for 4 years and became in the future one of the most beloved cartoons in the entire post-Soviet space. The author of this masterpiece was then still a novice, and later a giant of Soviet animation, David Cherkassky (if you know the famous walk and laugh of Dr. Livesey from memes - this is from his cartoon "Treasure Island" released in 1986) 

David Cherkassky's unique style also appeared here - comic surreal scenes (for example, shackles are inserted into an outlet and the head turns into a light bulb) and stereotypes about different countries, especially Western culture (the American agent of the international wanted list is an inadequately cool handsome, very overconfident James Bond with the Inspector Gadget technical support; Italian gangsters exclaim after each sentence "Mama Mia! Bambino!") that firstly were in an original humor child novel by a Soviet sailor Andrey Nekrasov published in 1939.

Interesting fact: the premier of the cartoon in the TV was specially planned on New Year's school holidays (which were 14 days)

Fuchs, one of the main characters of the Soviet cartoon "The Adventures of Captain Wrongel" in 1980 (about a cartoon, in Captain creation).. A beggar gambler who lost all his fortunes and went into debt to a big mafia boss. To pay off the debt, Fuchs becomes an errand boy and, by order of the "Boss", steals a statue of Venus de Milo from the museum and according to the plan had to transfer it to one of the yachts participating in the international round-the-world regatta, hiding it in a cello case. But by mistake he gets on Captain Wrongel's yacht, where his adventures begin.
