Christian Morrisseau (1969 – 2022) was a renowned Anishinaabe Canadian artist from the Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation. He was the youngest son of the famous Woodland Artist, Norval Morrisseau. Christian’s art was deeply rooted in the Woodland School of Art, a movement founded by his father. Woodland Art style is characterised by the use of Anishinaabe myths, thick black outlines, and bright colours. Christian’s work, like his father’s, was a revelation of the Ojibwe history. Despite the profound influence of his father’s vision, Christian managed to carve out his own artistic path.
