During heavy rains, lions will seek some form of shelter but in the open Serengeti, there's not always much. Thankfully, they usually manage to find somewhat drier spots where the ground isn't so wet. And the rains don't last all day but come in intense downpours for a few hours and then the sun comes out till the next day's downpour, so lions get to shake off the rain and warm up again.
Great image. The rain-storms usually build in the heat of the day (Nov/Dec and again Mar/Apr), so rain often brings welcome relief. And the ground is often so hot that things dry out very quickly, even if the sun is setting.
