He began his career in 2007 with the release of his debut mixtape "But My Mackin' Ain't Easy" and gained mainstream success with his 2011 album "Blue Slide Park". 
He released several more successful albums throughout his career, and was known for his introspective and personal lyrics. He passed away in 2018 due to an accidental drug overdose.
