SkyTrain reassembled itself after its tragic season, helped in part by the return of key designers who breached their contract with Skyvander when it was pulled from the League. Pekka Twiltinfoss agreed to drive for the team to restore its face and for a shot at a second title, which she nearly got until a first lap wipe-out in the Odeen Isles late in the season put Firecat Wyral ahead by two full race wins.

SkyTrain's fate was again in question with speculation of a merger between manufacturers SkyTrain and VanWinder. The team, fearful of another division like the one that ruined its 3650 season, signed ironclad contracts to remain an individual racing team regardless of corporate outcomes for the next four years.
