we see your world in veiled night
We are not killers or rabid things
we are little angels with leatheren wings
Misunderstood, feared and reviled
though not in hearts we have beguiled
Afoul of net, shot and barbed wire
though in tender hearts we do inspire
We look to care with trusting gaze
understanding path we hope to blaze
Through public fear, hands would see us thinned
and take leatheren wing from out their wind
The loving hands that see us care
treat with compassion that lovers dare
A simple truth not to be ignored
is one that impassioned hearts implored
Our survival is a must
for without you there is no us.
