Richard Burlet

Richard Burlet (1957 – ) is a French artist, renowned for his abstract-figurative art. His work is deeply influenced by the late 1800s Viennese tradition, the Vienna Secession, and pays homage to the art, architecture, and design of Vienna’s “Golden Age” and the highly praised works of Gustav Klimt. Burlet’s art style is a rich blend of Art Nouveau and the psychedelic nature of 1960s art. His technique involves the use of collage and heavy paint on canvas, creating flat yet richly dimensional imagery. He applies myriad colours one on top of another, with 24-karat gold and silver leafing, giving the canvas tone, texture, and a divine light that no other colour can compete with.
