From the Mojave to the Mountains

I made this creation for the "Wild Earth" challenge. Many years ago, I took a drive across the Mojave desert with my friend, to reach Mammoth Mountain for a beer tasting festival. I always thought it was impressive how this unrelenting, arid desert stretched all the way to the mountains, connecting with an entirely different climate of cold and snow. I didn't see any snow because it was summer, though there might have been some snowcaps on the mountains? But I know it happens that it does snow in the desert, in the winter, and I wanted to illustrate that in my creation.
