For years, the hare had dominated every race.
The snail kept entering out of optimism.
The sloth participated for the free snacks.
And the turtle quietly showed up, said very little, and kept moving forward.
Season after season, everyone laughed at the turtle's chances.
Too slow.
Too steady.
Too ordinary.
But while the others worried about speed, the turtle focused on something else.
Finishing.
On the day of the Shellington Invitational, the hare sprinted out too fast, the snail got distracted by a leaf, and the sloth stopped to take what experts later described as "a brief competitive nap."
The turtle simply kept going.
One step.
Then another.
And another.
When he crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted.
After all, the race isn't always won by the fastest competitor.
Sometimes it's won by the one who never stopped moving.
