"Major, what the fuck is that thing?!"
"I don't know!" But she knew it was bad— terrifyingly so. Major could feel her heart hammering against her chest as if it were attempting to escape through a window that didn't exist there. She blinked rapidly in attempt to fend off the beads of the sweat that fear had splashed onto her face beneath her helmet as she sprinted.
She tried to keep her composure while speaking through the coms, but with each word, fear trickles through. "What's the status on the retrieval pod?"
"It's on its way to grab ya and get you the hell outta of there—"
"Re-route it to the nearest broadcast planet immediately!"
"Wha— Cass no, what are you saying?! We need to go NOW!"
"We need to warn people! Warn every inhabited planet worth their civilization in this solar system."
"There's no time for that—"
"Then we need to make time—"
"Are you insane?! You're going to die out there!"
"And if we do nothing then trillions will take my place! Now send it!"
