As you contact Star Navy headquarters and brief them about our first contact, the enormity of the situation settles over us. The protocols and actions we need to take are discussed and planned, but there's a sense of awe and uncertainty that lingers.
When you turn to me and ask quietly, "Did you ever think we'd meet extra terrestrials in our lifetime?" I can see the mixture of wonder and concern in your eyes.
I shake my head slightly, a small smile forming. "I always hoped we would, but I never imagined it would happen quite like this. It's incredible and terrifying at the same time."
