The embers softly crackled in the hearth
As darkness settled on the city more.
My father's voice sounded softly
In the damp semi-darkness autumn.
That evening he told me
About the old lighthouse atop the bluff
That showed the ships the way
As they passed along their path.
Without its aid no one could ever
Drop anchor at the coveted shore's bath.
The years passed by and I became a sailor,
Honorably continuing my father's steps.
So many years since I'd been home,
A sea wolf grew from the lad.
