Especially DSv8 is prone to generating extremely deep, "crushed" black shadows. Higher models often try to "fix" or over-illuminate them. But they "lock in" the moody, high-contrast lighting (Chiaroscuro) of the start image and simply populate them with realistic detail.

Great stuff! Could I get a few tips for this? I've been trying to create similar with a butterfly, but I can't get a clockwork butterfly. It just gives me butterflies surrounded by clockwork parts, or on a clock face. It doesn't seem to matter how I word it, I cannot get the desired effect.
