Trying to sit as still as she can be 
Mother is sewing 
Pretty laces and bows
Shiny white shoes with silver buckles for toes
Tomorrow is Maisy Sue’s big day
Six years old in so many ways
Maisy Sue smiles with delight
Mother makes it just right
Pink roses with yellow bees
Green silk down to her knees
A big white bow ties it just right
How will she ever sleep tonight?
Sitting on her chair so neat
A silky dress with silver pleat
Dreams of parties and ribbons abound
Will there be balloons and a clown?
Tomorrow will be full of sugar and cream
Now all she can do is dream and dream
