Virtual Utopia XL
Listratha Bailiwick and Mengara Atopoi stood together, gazing at the various jewels around the Gnome Queen in this strange place beside the sea. Mengara closed her eyes, reaching out with her augur senses and gasped.
"This.. place? It's the token of the koan. How.." Mengara trailed off.
Lis understood. The whirling doorway was being projected by some kind of magic. She said, "If you're within the gem.."
Bedelia smiled softly. "Yes. I suppose that means I'm coming with you. I'd like to be returned to my people, when and if you complete your quest. Please return now and good luck."
Lis and Mengara stepped back, the doorway closed and before them lay a glowing jewel in the shape of a sea blue diamond.
Mengara smiled proudly, but it faltered when she saw Lis' sad expression.
"We will bring her back, Lis." Mengara had never called her that before. Lis smiled more brightly at her friend's determination.
