“Sounds like a plan, Fairbairn. We'll go with your theory,” Larkin said. He didn't understand all the science stuff fully, but working with Doctor Zelenka on Atlantis taught him to appreciate their work.

“Sir, while Sister Helena and Squadron Leader Fairbairn are curing the townsfolk, what will we do?” Bjornson asked.

“We’ll assist the Seabees with their work,” Larkin replied. “They need your strength in felling some trees.”

“Ah! My ‘Phenomenal Cosmic Powers’ will be put to use!” exclaimed Bjornson as he flexed his muscles. Everyone laughed. “I shall be happy to assist.”


“Good man,” Larkin said. He turned to Helena. “Helena, I’d like for you to wear your habit again for your mission with Fairbairn.”

“As you wish, sir,” said Helena.

“That’s all for now. Dismissed,” said Larkin. Just then Simon entered the refectory. He held a piece of paper in his hands and had a concerned look on his face. SG-24 and the Seabees stood. Larkin went over to Simon.

“Simon, what’s the matter?” Larkin asked with a tone of concern.

“This letter was just delivered to my office. It’s from Matilda. She says the Lady is coming tomorrow.” He showed the letter to Larkin who passed it to Commander McClendon. He was a bit frazzled but nevertheless determined. Next, he passed it to his men, who were shocked but still determined. Then the Seabees passed the letter to SG-24.



Like the Seabees, Fairbairn and Bjornson were shocked but determined, but when Helena read the letter, she was frightened. *“The Lady was coming back to Eversham?”* Helena thought. *“How am I to fight her? I’m just a lowly Carmelite Nun.”*

Larkin pat a reassuring hand on Sister Helena’s shoulder. “Deep breaths, Sister. We’ve got this,” he said.


Wednesday morning came quickly. The two teams assembled in the refectory for breakfast. After Larkin handed out assignments, each of the teams got to work.

With the help of Simon, the Seabees recruited some of the villagers to clear the area around the village. The Seabees pulled out their tractor and gathered their tools and set to work. Larkin and Bjornson would help the Seabees while Helena and Fairbairn would Zat those infected by Nish’ta that were at the tractor demonstration.

“Once you ladies finish up with your task I want us to explore the cave again. I want to see what other Ancient tech is in the cave,” Larkin said.
