Antonio Berni (1905–1981) was an influential Argentine artist whose work fused social realism with experimental techniques to confront the socio-political struggles of 20th-century Latin America. Deeply concerned with poverty, injustice, and exploitation, Berni's art evolved from surrealism to a powerful form of narrative realism, ultimately pioneering a unique approach that blended traditional painting with found objects and collage.
