31/ The dig site

Inside the walls, the air felt fresh. A hint of salt in the air reminded her of the Mediterranean sea, the sand swirling past her feet, the sun glistening on the water of Alexandria's harbour. A trireme slowly gliding past, its sails fluttering losely in the lazy wind.

She closed her eyes to take in the memory but it was gone immediately. Ashildr furrowed her brows and blinked, but the sensation was gone. Strange, she thought.

The city's silhouette was nearly gone, only faintly visible behind the fence's glow. Several workers seemed to be digging in several scattered pits all around the manor ruins. In some places, tarpaulins covered scorched stone fragments, gently swaying in the nightly breeze. Some rather important looking people stood at the brink of the digging pits and were looking about importantly.

I feel like I've seen this before, she mumbled to herself.
