My first draft of this had the octopus bareheaded. After I looked at the result, I thought: "That bare, bald, blue head doesn't look so good. Something's missing!" Then I realized that of course he should be wearing a cowboy hat, and also that I should mention country-and-western music in the title. The art style is supposed to be that of Friz Freleng.
