Charlemagne is the overarching main antagonist of “The Rule of Charlemagne”. He is the supreme leader of the Divine Order and was the one who appointed all the Governors. 

It is unknown where he came from, it is implied he is immortal but he has no other special abilities beyond an unnatural glow. Some theories considered by Constantine are that he is an alien or some form of deity. 

He took the name Charlemagne from the historical figure who was the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He is extremely narcissistic and self absorbed, his entire motivation is wanting power and worship, a goal that he (for the time) succeeded at achieving.

He only briefly appeared at the ending with a meeting with Karma beyond that he is only seen via portraits. He is heavily associated with gold.

He has not aged since he gained control over the world which during the storyline was roughly 50-60 years ago. He wears robes almost exclusively. 

His palace is located in Germany.
