I got my very own baby venus flytrap a few days ago. Let me share some tips I've accumulated over time, and ask for more!

They like humidity! Keep a humidifier- preferable a cold mist humidifier to prevent bacteria buildup- near one if your humidity is lower than 50%.

Distilled or reverse osmosis water only. Because they get nutrients from the traps, any kind of nutrients/minerals in the soil or water will damage the roots over time, since the roots aren't equipped to absorb that.

Each trap can only snap shut 1-5 times before they die. It takes a lot of energy out of them. Also, you only gotta feed one or two traps at a time.

Dormancy period. during the winter months, keep them colder and in lower light. This encourages growth in warmer seasons as you re-acclimate it to light and heat.

(My humidifier keeps making glugging sounds in the middle of the night and freakin' me out.)

You should also check out sundews? (is the name iirc) and there are some other fly-trapping plants. There are some in the marshy area here in my town in MI. I should hike out there soon and see them again

An ex & her gf took us to the motherlode of where these were naturally in a park in NC near the ocean. It was AMAZING. A short hike thru forest and then walking on some boards (marshy) and you come to a little carved out spot where there were hundreds, maybe more, just all over, it was so great!
