Legends tell of an age long past where human artifice had yet to exist, and then of a later age when artifice threatened to overrun the planet.
And then, the world was saved. History has forgotten the how of it, only that we now live in perfect balance between nature and artifice.
Humans used to subsist on orally-consumed food in the matter of animals. Oh, how far we have come. The sun is all we need now, our evolved bodies photosynthesizing everything we need to live contently.
Someone from another time once appeared on my doorstep and asked me what I was. When I told them that I was human, they gaped in disbelief, for they believed themselves to be human.
I explained that I was a proper human. That this was the human race's destiny.
Horrified, they vanished. I paid them no heed.
I am in my front yard, basking in the sunlight and savoring the feel of blossoms on my skin.
I am a proper human, and I am glad.
