For the Covid challenge. An attempt to illustrate how quickly the society in my country adopted the attitude that only "vulnerable" population groups are in real danger and therefore everyone else don't need to make an effort to make public indoor spaces safer for everyone - e.g., wearing a mask, distancing, minimizing overall social contacts, and staying home whenever they felt unwell. Upgrading/rebuilding ventilation systems also makes a huge difference but few places have done that because, well, it costs money and after all it's only the "vulnerable" (read: dispensable) who are responsible for keeping themselves safe.
And now, even as the media claims that Covid is over, we are getting more and more studies that show startling percentages of people, including children, getting long Covid after an infection. The worst of all, the risk of long Covid is reported to actually increase with each subsequent reinfection...
