Glacierberry Bush

Description: The Glacierberry Bush is a tough, low-growing shrub that thrives in the nutrient-poor soils of the Shiverglass Fjords, often clinging to rocky slopes and moraines near glacier meltwaters. Its woody branches are covered in pale blue-gray bark, and its leaves are small, thick, and waxy to reduce water loss. The plant’s most striking feature is its clusters of small, translucent berries, which appear almost frozen solid even in warmer months due to their dense, icy-blue skin and frosted surface. These berries remain encased in natural frost until the warmth of spring thaws them, releasing a sharp, tart flavor reminiscent of wild cranberries mixed with hints of alpine mint.
