She picked up the diary, opened it and read.

He wrote about her mother. He wrote about how they met, how they fell in love, how they got married. He wrote about how much he loved her mother, how happy she made him, how proud he was of her.

He wrote about his daughter, how much he loved her, how beautiful she was, how smart she was, how precious she was. He wrote about how he wanted to be the best father for her, how he wanted to protect her, teach her, guide her. He wrote about how he missed them every time he had to leave for work or travel. He wrote about how he couldn't wait to see them again.

He wrote with such passion and sincerity that she felt tears in her eyes as she read. She felt his love for them radiating from every page. She felt his presence beside her as if he was reading with her. She felt closer to him than ever before.

She read for hours, until she reached the last entry. It was dated the day of his death.
