Will smirked. “Yeah, I’m sure. This time, it’s different.”

Kenji leaned against the car, crossing his arms. “You’ve changed. That ride with your dad, it did something, didn’t it?”

Will nodded, wiping the sweat from his forehead. “It wasn’t just the ride. It was the way he talked about control. I thought it was all about speed—about going as fast as possible—but it’s more than that.”

Kenji gave a small, approving smile. “Good. Then show them tonight. You ready?”

Will glanced at his car one last time, feeling the hum of the engine beneath his fingertips. “More than ready.”

The night air was thick with anticipation as Will rolled into the familiar lot behind the garages, his Supra’s engine purring like a wild animal ready to be unleashed.
