Being an uninvited guest in this house
Is nothing new, I've long made it my home.
All that you've left here, abandoned and thrown out
Will now be mine, I'll take it as my own!
When you're staying in a room alone,
You feel as if someone's behind your back.
And on a hot day a sudden cold breeze blows -
It's just me returning from my daily walk.
I've outlived leaders and mighty rulers,
Bringing terror to those who dwelled here before!
Put out fires, burned poisoners to ashes,
Proudly saved my corner of the world and more.
You're not the master, just a guest in my dwelling,
Behave as I wish - I'll keep misfortune at bay!
But if you're a foe to this household, be warned
Your soul will soon join my spectral array!
I settled here with your ancestors before
Back when domovoys were honored by all.
They'd leave me kvass and candy galore
Sadly none of them are left standing tall...
