Yves Klein (1928 – 1962) was a French artist and a key figure in post-war European art. He was a prominent member of the French artistic movement called Nouveau Réalisme. Klein was a pioneer in the development of performance art, which made him an inspiration and forerunner of Minimal Art and Pop Αrt. He is widely recognised for developing and using a unique shade of ultramarine blue, called "International Klein Blue" (IKB), which he extensively used in his monochromatic paintings and sculptures. His revolutionary performances, like the "Anthropometry" series, featured nude models painting on canvases with their bodies.
