Dama Wyral saw little point in remaining on Portus while efforts at exploration and colonization, sparked solely by her dream, went on without her. She said on interview: "I dreamed all this space flight stuff up in the first place, so I ought to see some of it, right?"

With some help from the Society for Exploratory Science (which she founded) and SkyTrain (of which she owned 10%) Dama made a long-range private vessel for herself, with a miniaturized final version of her signature space-drive. The Dama V was not released on Portus - it was instead given as public patent to Outposts, in need of a small drive for asteroid mining and construction.
