In my science-fantasy novel, "ONE OF D-GIRLS," Nigrum Imber is an amnesic sergeant with considerable scars. Hence, this image refers to her back story. However, she is regenerating at an increasing rate so her scars will eventually disappear.
Of course, that level of regeneration makes having your ear pierced rather annoying. But, when it comes to earrings, there are a few options.
At this stage of her life, she still firmly believes that she's human even though she's "obviously" some kind of, well... Mutant. Just a human mutant. A neo-human, as it were.
