I carried tomorrow
like an inheritance,
certain it would be waiting
where I left it.
Meanwhile,
the seasons folded into one another,
the faces I loved
became memories,
and the years
slipped through my hands
disguised as ordinary days.
Only then did I understand—
the clock was never measuring time.
It was measuring me.
