In the Uitoto people’s story of the origin of the universe, there was a boy called Fidoma. He was lazy and went in search of colours instead of working on the farm. At the beginning, the animals had no colour – but Fidoma poured colours on the butterflies, birds and animals.

Fidoma was, in a way, the first painter.
