The Castle of the Mists stood atop a rise not far from Bigbone Castle, and the origin of its name is obvious enough: due to the effect of the pond not far away, a thin mist always forms along the slopes of the hill that seems to envelop the towers and ramparts in a milky, caliginous embrace.
It is a place of great charm, but there is no doubt that in the evenings -- especially on full moon nights -- the villagers prefer to keep away from the turreted wonder, and this to the great displeasure of Sir Randolph Marsh, the present castellan, who suffers this personally.
