His are in his pockets, hers are folded, theirs are at their sides, ready. He’s still in gray and denim, she’s in that simple purple dress, and the brick dorms wait just behind them.

I didn’t want tears, I wanted that tight, proud, bittersweet smile. The moment you realize forever didn’t mean holding on forever, it meant teaching them how to walk away with love still on them.
