Melinda was a medical graduate of Sydney University, on completion of her compulsory two year internship, she joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a Medical Officer. In 2018, she was by this time a Flight Lieutenant (Captain) and was scouted by Stargate Command. 2019 after a grueling training program at the SGC's Alpha Site, she was posted firstly to the USS Apollo as assistant medical officer. In 2022 on promotion to Sqn Ldr, she became the permanent Senior Medical Officer on the UNS Invincible.
