🔹 Starting in the 1830s the United States government forcibly removed the southeastern Native Americans from their homelands and relocated them to present day Oklahoma. A 1,200-mile forced march, causing exposure, disease and exhaustion, resulting in the death of approximately 15k indigenous people. This tragic event is referred to as the Trail of Tears.
