How Edith came to take acid is a long and complex tale. For now it is enough to write that she has ingested this substance (too much Timothy Leary at her granola college), and finds herself staring in the mirror deep in the thralls of LSD. She loves this version of herself, so arresting and captivating and decides there, right then and there, that she hopes this trip lasts forever. A wish that she, within less than 24 hours, will come to deeply regret.
