Beautiful image - I love this one. The style and the character are epic, in the truest sense of the word. He reminds me of Spartacus in that he has that inner strength of character and drive, that is the hallmark of a great leader.

Yes, I think you've highlighted the male archetype I find portrait worthy. Leaders who are the same time loners who would just as well walk away from the mantle that is either thrust upon by their times or bequethed to them by destiny,  

I like the style here very much .. it has a storyteller's look and feel.

Very much a ‘story-tellers’ look and feel. It’s more than a graphic novel but it has those elements that are somewhere between art nouveau decorative and comic book. It’s those delicate black keylines that really do it for me. They’re a reminder of the graphic nature of the medium, pointing towards this being ‘illustrative’ of something. The image illustrates the text, it isn’t aimed at being a stand alone portrait. It is a partner to the text and they work intrinsically together. Illustrations have this unique distinction. They don’t have to be as dramatic and blatant as a comic or cartoon, they can be more subtle because there are more words to fill in the gaps.
