In some versions, Theseus's marriage to the Amazonian queen led to the war between Athenians and Amazonianss. In other versions, the war was the precursor to marriage.

In my version, Theseus must fight the Amazons in an arena in order to prove his worthiness to marry their queen. If Theseus survives, the Amazonians will collectively approve of their marriage.

In order to prove his worthiness to marry the Amazonian queen Hippolyta, Theseus must fight in a gauntlet of the greatest warriors from the Amazons.

Unfortunately, our so-called "hero" could not stand the test. After so many 'near misses', Theseus ultimately found a blade through his chest from the back. 

The Amazons roared in laughter as Theseus collapsed.

This arrogant, foolish man proved unworthy of their queen's love. Good riddance.
