Ah, I missed his birthday! My personal favorite stories of his are all "lesser known" ones, like "The Long Walk," which was originally published under his Richard Bachman pseudonym.
I'd also give a shoutout to the film "Sleepwalkers," which wasn't based on a preexisting story of King's but was, in fact, a totally original screenplay. That one's a lot of fun.
