Before she passed after a long and healthy life I used to have a rescue veiled chameleon with one eye named Lucy! For them losing an eye is like… I dunno, losing an eye, your hearing, becoming paraplegic, and gaining the blackest clinical depression all at once - conventional wisdom is they will not survive, simply from losing the will to live. I didn’t have her right after she lost the eye, that was my ex, so credit to her for keeping the little baby engaged wirh the world and healthy. 

When my ex - well at the time we were still dating - was incarcerated, somebody had to take the reptiles and I ended up the lucky person with like ten new reptile pets! Never having had a reptile as a pet before I thought they just sat under lamps being boring but they’re the most awesome animals and really engaging, fun pets to have!
