Baba Yaga emerges in a blaze of Fauvist color and sculptural impasto. Her luminous amber eyes command the viewer while a speckled hen familiar rests upon her shoulder. Mortar, herbs, broom and alchemical bottles transform folklore into a powerful psychological presence.

Artistic Statement:
This portrait abandons narrative fairy-tale illustration in favor of psychological confrontation. Inspired by Fauvist portraiture and expressionist paint handling, the work transforms Baba Yaga into an archetype of wisdom, danger, humor and mystery. Color becomes emotion, while thick impasto turns memory and folklore into living matter.
