There was a challenge calling for creations starring Marilyn Monroe. I'd never done one of those before, but an idea popped into my head. I fiddled around with various takes on the basic idea until I ended up with what you see. Unfortunately, by the time I had put the finishing touches on this version, showing her in a costume designed by artist Jim Balent for the 1990s Catwoman comic book series, I had missed the deadline for that challenge! But I decided to publish this anyway, and see if it appeals to anyone.
P.S. (Added in January 2026.) Recently, I created an animated version based on this image.
