Outside, she tried to fasten the rose to her outfit but pricked her finger on a hidden thorn. A thin cut formed, and as she considered how to stop the bleeding, something strange happened. The nearby advertising lights began to flicker. From them, a fine crystalline mist drifted toward her hand. Warmth and tingling spread through her finger as the wound shimmered faintly blue.

Within seconds, the cut vanished completely—no blood, no scar.
