Given superhuman abilities by ingesting a herb that has been mutated by the Vibranium that lies under Wakanda's soil, and wearing an advanced suit made from Vibranium,T'Challa has vowed to keep his country safe no matter what the cost.  He has undertaken many secret missions across the globe, removing threats whenever and wherever they emerged.
This oath at first put him at odds with the Avengers, but when they proved themselves worthy and honourable by helping keep Wakanda safe, T'Challa became their ally.  He is now a member of the team.
