Kael Vire rode like a dying star through the drowned arteries of Uldareth Deep, the oldest grave beneath the megacity. His rune-etched hoverbike shrieked over blackwater while his cyber-familiar, Nyx-6, clung to his shoulder, lenses flaring crimson warnings. Behind them thundered Gorvath the Pipeborn, a bone-plated leviathan spawned from ruptured conduits and forbidden bio-alchemy.
Kael had entered Uldareth Deep to steal a relic known as the Heart Sigil, a sentient arcane core rumored to power entire districts—or collapse them. A corporate syndicate wanted it. Kael wanted the payout and the leverage.
He got the relic. He also woke its guardian.
Now the tunnels were caving, rune-lamps dying, floodgates failing. Gorvath tore through steel and stone, roaring like collapsing cathedrals.
Nyx-6 screamed in static.
“Surface route compromised.”
Kael didn’t slow.
Because in Uldareth Deep, you don’t outrun monsters.
You outrun the dark deciding it wants you.
