From the writings of Sedarna Belumous, Sorceress of Halmantica
I admit that I admire this imperial paladin quaestor, Guyen Irulan. His faith in his empress exudes power. He has a quiet intensity, but is otherwise unassuming. Foleil remains a formidable judge of character.
It struck me I could tell him about whom she'd been, before taking the high throne of the old ealflae empire in Kiervaar.
At Secundai Tor, the fortress was overrun with specters. She held them back for weeks, then left a nominal force on the walls, evacuated her army by secret paths and set fire to the whole plateau, soldiers and specters burned together, far more of the latter.
She is ruthless, but calculating. It was a setback for Phanavaom, to lose the Tor entirely, where he could have marshalled forces in a commanding position of the surrounding region.
The imperial paladin was unaffected, in fact he seemed to draw pride from hearing of her, "accomplishments."
Fanatical faith, it gave me a shiver.
